Bangladesh crush West Indies in revenge match

Bangladesh crush West Indies by 8 wickets of the 3rd ODI in probably the best way to serve up revenge after West Indies bowled Bangladesh out for 58 in the Cricket World Cup earlier this year.

The gloomy and threatening weather looming ever the Chittagong skies were out of the equation and held off after conditions of light rain at the night before the match helped Bangladesh secure an easy, but a match for pride, win. The night before the match saw good conditions for the slow bowlers and plenty of bounce and slow pace that was devised for both teams at the match.

West Indies were batting in a surface that hits the average run rate score of around four an over and a 1st Innings average score of 180. 33-1 was scored by West Indies comfortably in 10 overs when suddenly the big collapse of 29 runs and 9 wickets began by the surge of the slow, spin attack of Bangladesh. Nasir Hussain( 3-2 in 2 overs) was the opening of the dramatic attack by getting the highest scorer Kieran Powell for 25. Shafiul Islam and Hussain were pecking the top order batsmen with the unusual attack looking at the bowling pair attack. Pollard and star hitter Marlon Samuels were out for 0 and 5. Shakib al Hasan got best figures of 4-16 5 overs and pecked out the tail enders mostly as West Indies were looking for singles all the time instead of being patient and hitting the poor bowls considering the slow nature of the pitch. With the last man Anthony Martin was part of Shakib's 4 victims, West Indies hit the record books for the wrong reasons with 61 all out in 22 overs being the second ever lowest score they ever had in ODI history.

Bangladesh faced a 99% chance of winning and can't let the opportunity of revenge out in such a low score to chase. Kayes hit a 6 but was out to an edge and shortly after Shahriar Nafees fell for a duck. But Tamim Iqbal maintained his composure of his innings of 36 off 62 balls with 3 fours being hit as well as Mushfiqur Rahim chipping in with 10 runs to guide Bangladesh to the second highest ever successful run chase in ODI history.
