Former Australia rugby international boss of Australia

Pat Howard, a former Australia rugby international player, has landed a job as general manager of team performance.
He had been recommended in the Argus review that was an inquiry into how the Ashes was lost to England in a 3-1 win.

Howard said "It is a great opportunity for anybody interested in sports leadership". "The timing of the new role off the back of Argus Review makes this an exciting time in Australian cricket."

The Cricket Australia chief executive, James Sunderland said "He has a background of success as a player, selector and coach, including 20 Tests as an Australian [rugby] player, as well as playing and coaching success with Leicester Tigers in England". He will have an uphill start after Tim Nielsen quit after the tour of Sri Lanka. Being appointed in a middle of an important and major big series will be really hard but will he be able to step up to the challenge?
