Mumbai are crowned Twenty20 kings of the world

Mumbai Indians have won the Nokia Champions League Twenty20 by 31 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore after a dramatic collapse that was sparked by Chris Gayle being out for 5 from 12 balls.

Defending a very modest total, Mumbai have pulled arguably one of the upsets of Twenty20 tournament by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 31 runs. Mumbai were playing suicidal cricket with the exception of James Franklin playing a careful and smart innings with his 41. The game started by an awful run out of Aiden Blizzard who was running for a quick single that was comfortable with Sarul Kanwar being over cautious with his decision to stay and get Blizzard out. Kanwar from then didn't look in touch and was out shortly after for 13 from 14 balls. Rayudu and Franklin piled the runs in and started to get a healthy partnership until Rayudu try to hit one over but was succumbed to Raju Bhatkal who was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-21. The same sort of partnership looked to have happened between Yadav and Franklin before the hard running  2 from a ball in the 14th over became too much and Yadav was out 24 from 17 balls. The same happened to James Franklin and this sparked an eventual collapse to 139 all out in exactly 20 overs.

Everyone was looking forward to the Gayle v Malinga encounter but it looked stalemate when Gayle kept on playing defence shots towards Malinga. It was more of Dilshan v Malinga encounter as Malinga had an awful first over by conceding 5 no balls and a wide to give Dilshan 2 free hits to punish. 38 runs were conceded in 4 overs but that was about to change fortunes when Dilshan's fellow countryman Malinga left him destroying his stumps. Harbhajan Singh risked with spin to Gayle and eventually Gayle was lbw at off stump for a mere 5 from 12 balls. Since then, Kohli and the other batsmen lower down the order felt pressure and were succumbed to it. Kohli out to Harbhajan Singh for only 11. The wickets tumbled until the final wicket came at the 2nd ball of the 20th over. Spin and turn was at the full advantage later at the match for the Mumbai Indians but was not for Bangalore as Harbhajan Singh would be handy as captain and also at the day he was dropped from the ODI and Twenty20 squad for the series against England. His figure of 3-20 would make selectors regret his drop from the Indian squad.
Singh is Kinnnnnnnnnnnnng!!!!
