Kolkata put attack too little too late as Somerset win tense match

Video highlights of Kolkata Knight Riders v Somerset

Roelof van der Merwe showed more masterclass than Yusuf Pathan's excellent ball to bat innings by showing how to bat on a slow and turning pitch in Kolkata's and Somerset's first match in the Nokia CLT20.

Kolkata batted first and were slow in getting off the mark but got their pace when Yusuf Pathan's blistering 39 along with Kallis's 87 got Kolkata to 161-3 with Pathan hitting even 4 6s in a row! Lewis Gregory was the pick of the bowlers with 2-9 in his four overs in a track that showed a lack of pace and a bit of turn.

Roelof van der Merwe showed his dominaance with bat and ball with figures of 0-21 in his four overs and showing some class as the spin bowlers had no answers to the hits he was making with his constructive and destructive innings of 73 in 40 balls. Former Bangladesh captain, Shakib al Hasan got 2 wickets from his dropped catch-throw-and-run out, and from  a superb caught and bowled in an over. The match looked upside down before Compton and Suppiah hit the runs carefully and keeping within the run rate and finished off the Knight Riders off with 2 balls to spare.
