The underdogs going for the final

Somerset play Mumbai Indians in the last semi final of the Champions League Twenty20 in Chennai. You can see the match in British Eurosport at 15:20 today (UK only).

Who would underestimate these teams? One teams that comes from the West County of England and narrowly misses winning tournaments every time and one team that have been plagued with big name injuries. But these teams come through by self-determination and belief.

Mumbai had endured long and hard criticism about fielding an extra overseas player although they claim to field player from associated team Mumbai Ranji. But they have been playing well with Lasith Malinga with the bat and ball even doubling his T20 total runs from before the tournament. The lower order has put more effort into getting to the final.

Somerset have the advantage of playing together as a team since the beginning of the English cricket season. Although they have fallen apart when playing big games, they have the team wth Roelof van der Merwe doing good with the bat and ball. Playing well as a team and Somerset will be a major threat.

The Team talk...
"There is room for improvement, and we don't want to peak too early. I think our fielding can sharpen up a bit more. We are certainly hitting the straps now. Nobody gave us a chance and we did well and that shows the character of this team."
Alfonso Thomas, Somerset captain

"I think we've to just adjust on the day. I mean we don't quite know how the pitch is going to play until we arrive and see how the first five or six deliveries behave. It's going to be strange, because we've played two games and we'll adapt pretty well, I think."
Shaun Pollock, Mumbai Indians bowling coach
